Rhodes at Oriel College 1873-81

Cecil John Rhodes (1853-1902) was a student at Oriel College intermittently between 1873-81. When he died, he left most of his estate to establish the Rhodes Trust to fund scholarships for students from Germany, the USA, and the then British colonies.

The scholarship’s basic tenure is two years. However, it may also be held for one year or three years. Applications for a third year are considered during the course of the second year. University and college fees are paid by the Rhodes Trust.
